Benefits of Cloud Connected Fleet Camera Systems

ProVision Drives Connected-Cloud Business Strategy Saying, “Operators Should Not Operate a Fleet Camera System Without a Cloud Connected Solution”

ProVision is pressing the message to fleet operators that a high-quality, connected, cloud-based system should be the major consideration for camera solutions.

Any fleet operator that is serious about protecting their fleet needs a vehicle camera system that provides cloud-connected remote access”

“Any fleet operator that is serious about protecting their fleet needs a vehicle camera system that provides cloud-connected remote access” said Simon Murray, Sales & Marketing Director and Co-Founder at ProVision.

“Many operators continue to get inadequate fleet security and footage accessibility from basic hardware solution s that are simply not fit for purpose. For instance, basic camera systems, such as dash cameras, are simply not suitable for commercial vehicles. They are just too unreliable, simplistic and lack necessary basic features.”

Basic camera systems can lull transport managers into a false sense of security, believing that vehicles journeys are being recorded, when in fact they might miss the crucial part of the incident by not covering all angles, or may not even be recording due to an unknown fault” said Mervyn O’Callaghan, Managing Director and Co-Founder at ProVision.

There is a massive gap in terms of what a consumer might get from a basic camera system, and what a fleet operator should want from a commercial spec solution”

“There is a massive gap in terms of what a consumer might get from a basic camera system, and what a fleet operator should want from a commercial spec solution” adds Mervyn.

“The bottom line is that operators need multi-camera, tamper-proof video systems, but crucially, it must be a smart system that is remotely accessible, giving a full overview of the fleet. W e can offer a solution that gives them vehicle tracking, vehicle and driving data, plus video on top , all on a single platform that shows all hardware is fully operational and instantly tells you if a camera or the recording hardware has been tampered with. That’s a compelling package of data with a monthly cost that is comparable to most tracking-only systems.”

Connected camera systems are much more useful than simply downloading footage after an incident. Live viewing of vehicles that are being loaded or are parked when they shouldn’t be can be very useful. Additionally, companies that need to monitor how staff carry out their work, for compliance reasons, can use the system, connected to a multi-camera configuration, to complete compliance checks remotely and share the video with workers where they find non-compliance issues.

Simon Murray continued, “Often, the customers who buy a simple, low-cost camera system come back to us within three to six months to replace all the units they bought, as they then understand the need for a commercial-spec, multi-camera system with remote connectivity. Getting the system right first time will save them wasted money, time and frustration in the long run, and reduces the risk of unnecessary losses or legal exposure.”
